The reality is that the mass inflow of very poor people (which is what illegal immigration largely is) is bad for society. i also started smoking weed and skipping school at 12, but because i lived in a nice middle/upper class canadian neighborhood, the furthest it went was doing molly at parties when i was like 16. i didn't end up on heroin. but i know my self and i'm pretty sure if i was in that position i'd have ended up on it as well. i have a very addictive personality.
where you are born at has a huge effect on your childhood, your future prospects, everything. and nobody gets a say in it. , it's all luck of the draw.
i personally don't think it excuses him being aggressively racist, but parts of his story are undeniably things that could have and would have happened to other people in the same situation
yns seems, to me, quite smart, and i think if he had the upbringing i did he could have been super successful and never used herion

i also think, in accepting that, that yns maybe you could have a bit more empathy to "brown people" who had equally awful childhoods and starting points, if in a different way. they didn't have LA drug culture to deal with, but they did have a shit education, were born in a rural village of 100 people without running water or a real doctor, got malaria when they were 5. got encephalitis when they were 7, etc etc.
maybe you think that sounds like an exaggerated description of things but honestly billions of people have upbringings just like that. minus the rural village part, but everything else is applicable to like 1/4 of the earth tbh

bro it's not just the whole putting people in ghettos thing. look into our TFW (temporary foreign worker) program. it's awful. keeps wages down for Canadians, allows the big franchises to never run out of workers, never have to raise wages to attract local labour, etc.
the TFWs don't even end up living here, they save as much of it as they can, and go back home after 2-5 years before spending it. a lot of it is sent home monthly through wire transfers to help support their family.
i'm not blaming them, i'd do the same. but like.... it's just... not... great. not great.
but to the first part of your post, YES there are ways you can do immigration well. absolutely. immigrants and immigration are not the enemy.
i also think if your economy is doing worse than it has in decades, it's okay to put a pause on that for a few years (which i think we will end up doing, so many people want this to happen)

for the record, i believe racism and the race science theories that YNS and jones promote are stupid and misguided. it feels like a sad waste of their potential as people and posters. at my core i believe this is just a regrettable phase for both posters and i hope that they’ll someday emerge from this as thoughtful and entertaining contributors.
