Wittgenstein's Philosophical Investigations book commentary

well, i hope the math they teach in schools is not wrong.

Well at the very least it's not empirically verifiable. Which you have to admit is a big issue

for every real proof published there are a dozen bogus proofs not published. are bogus proof people not conscious?

just drop it. consider him self educated to a basic degree to make it simple and go from there. distinctly because, if he is very formally educated, then he has been conducting himself in a position of bad faith, by choosing his arguments in a nitpicky way where he understands what you're saying and is continually looping around for some ulterior motive based on some discrepensies that he's not even willing to transparently address.

am i wrong?

I was eating strands of carpet in a hotel room because tasting something brought me back to reality and I desperately wanted to be alive again

it doesnt need to be empirically verifiable if you assume you are not drunk, which we do assume. math is made of assumptions and derivations. its only wrong if there is a logically incorrect step or the assumptions dont add up.

are you saying formal education typically explains what the metaphysical view of consciousness is?

please tell me something about "consciousness is metaphysical" that doesnt use the word metaphysical.

Is it even ethical to teach America's 5- to 7-year-olds something which is not empirically verifiable?

Keep in mind most of the little fuckers have not even read Godel.

consciousness is not contained within the brain

okay. if i destroy someone's brain, does their consciousness remain?

maybe it leaves the body

old hbotz would've ignored that and not tried to expose nyte with gotcha questions

okay. i reject anything like that, completely. sorry. its just how i am. and i do kind of look down on people who believe that sort of thing, at a gut level, even though i should not.

it's great you rejected it. maybe there are other reasons? did you think of disproving your "belief" first?

old hbotz was operating under the assumption that all this philosophical stuff would lead to sane conclusions, maybe. but now they are telling me that consciousness leaves the body on death and AGI is impossible on metaphysical grounds.

its like, religion-lite.

also, can we be clear about something, aren't you in fact expressing what i've been saying THIS WHOLE TIME about your entire approach to this conversation?

its about as worthwhile as disproving God to a sufficiently motivated apologist, i think.

i never denied it?

hbotz, i'm not giving you an answer for you to believe in
i'm giving an answer that's just as ridiculous or not, as the answers you've been giving

mathematicians who are drugged do bad math and therefor math isn't accessible
