Mine was 70k and Its really not that shit

Yeah 70k is reasonable even if it was “shit” by modern cosmopolitan millennial full stack coders standards

Your place would probably cost 350k in the states 300k if it didn’t have a plumbing system and you had to shit in an outhouse in the back in the winters (I’ve seen rural houses like that in 2022, in America, for hundreds of thousands of dollars)

the mistake you've made is thinking that United States social assistance programs are intended to help people; they're intended to give people jobs.

the San Francisco homeless industrial complex where they spend tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) on each homeless person and accomplish nothing. It's an endless money pit where doing a good job would confer less power to the people who hold the positions.

core reason why it's so bureaucratic - effectively no responsibility can be assigned and the gravy train keeps flowing.

the price of housing is a function of whatever the maximum amount of debt people are able to take on: same as college.

(speaking out of my ass) housing is the most valuable asset because ... every other asset class is worthless. bonds are worthless. debt is worthless. the stock market is completely detached from reality.

I don't think we'll be able to build another single house past 2023; at least in the high-end market, you have to wait over 12 months to get stuff like windows. building materials are like fossil fuels and they've just been used up entirely.

if you decry "capitalism" at all you're going to get is soyjak insom world where everyone is required to be gay. Any movement to "socailism" in America isn't going to result in massive Chinese Evergrande Ghost Towns with based housing supply - it's going to result in your builder being a certified member of the MINORITY OWNED BUSINESS conglomerate. It's going to be "housing solutions" that are designed to "recoup past injustices against BIPOC" or whatever the fuck.

how do I know this? because it's the model for weapons research and development in the United States.

my solution? sink both the east and west coasts of the United States (killing all their inhabitants in the process) and then refloat them with a complex system of buoys and piers. then allow the real americans (flyover people) to resettle them, repeating the process when needed.

think of a giant submarine ballast tank that runs off the coast of california

I bought my old house for $104,000 before this shit.
The neighbor four houses down is now selling for $650,000.
I might just sell and move into an apartment for a few years.
