yea that's what i mean there's rarely the lotr tier of good vs bad most everything is a shade of gray. i try to draw the line on what these countries or coalitions decide is the status quo for them. the taliban are mostly just radical fundamentalists who will beat women for learning to read and fight dirty if you invade 'their' country. isis chops off heads or conscripts men, enslaves their women, and brainwashes their kids. russia is just belligerent

I can also see how the people in these countries are living in a regressed state where the language they speak is the language of violence and it is hard to look at actions taken in this world (war crimes) from the context of our world and truly understand them as anything other than horrific, brutal, evil. But I also do not want my representatives, the US military/politicians in my name (as a US citizen) actively participating in or perpetuating this - which is what happens when you drop people into that environment. I do believe the US (the "good guys") also did/do horrific things in those environments.
It was a good thing that Trump basically said: Enough. This is wasteful, it is not going anywhere, there is no end in sight, it is a blemish on the morals of the US Military. And he pulled out.
I think more presidents should follow in his tracks of not starting any new military expeditions and ending those that he can. He seemed to be a very peaceful person in that regard.
