while these are reasons why the numbers could be wrong, they are not refutations (although maybe age bias could be one if there is indeed such an issue, though you cannot naively assume it works against the proposed conclusion)
the way i see it is that the 5% difference is rather small in any case thus indicating black and white sentiment is very similar, which i did not initially expect. i do believe that black people are bullied more by the police, so perhaps there is a countereffect as well
yep the error bars are crossing. if null hypothesis was "black people and white people do not have different answers to the question" you would fail to reject the null hypothesis (survey bias notwithstanding, but how do you know which way the bias goes?)
btw hot take "redirecting funds" is a conspiracy by the rich. theres no reason to keep the funds consistent. if you want mental health, drug treatment, and violence prevention, raise taxes and directly fund the thing. if you want to defund the police, explain why the police are overfunded. the budget was never zero sum in the first place.

Answer: Obviously yes. Stronger yes by the group disproportionately affected by these issues
Question 2: Do you want reduced size of police force
Answer: Somewhat split, with more on No. Stronger No from the people who would be disproportionately affected by less policing.

- the chart does not support my preferred conclusion
- the chart must be biased and unusable.
- they cherrypicked just the second part of the chart and not the first part of the chart that does support my preferred conclusion.
- but the chart must be biased and unusable. all surveys like this are biased and unusable because of age bias. in this case the age bias must be biasing the data away from my preferred conclusion (not towards it)
