Jdance please try to avoid shitposting during the non-shitposty portions of the thread. I don't like when I'm having a serious conversation and you spam garbage to distract from it and I don't like when you discourage other people from participating in that conversation
She brings this up all of once, towards the end. She says they never experienced any racism. The only other things she said about their experience was that they were encouraged to participate in student of color groups. She never even characterizes their reaction to that, just her own
The conversation is very stupid and very pointless but because you worded your thoughts in a nice manner I will leave you guys to solve these pressing issues
what is the purpose of student of color groups? i do not really understand.
I was referring to your
post, where you argue that black people are burdened with consciously having to Act White, while I am of the opinion that any behavior that could fall under the category of White Acting (still unsure of what exactly acting white entails) is just them being affected by their peers behavior
there is an effect where black kids who perform well in school get bullied by other black kids for "acting white" but this does not exactly vibe with what ewiz is speaking to
I did see your post electro wizkid and I appreciated the engagement - the criticisms of you in my posts were regarding your reading comprehension skills.
It should be pretty obvious who the criticisms of low-engagement posting are directed at
Affinity groups for a sense of community. They're all over colleges and it helps people make friends they're comfortable sharing their life experiences with because it's more likely they understand.
Example: this woman chastises a black girl for leaving the school after 14 years because she realized how it made her suppress aspects of her identity. That girl is far more likely to find other people that can relate to the feeling in something like a Black Student Union, whereas a white person can empathize, but can't actually understand that experience
If simply performing well in school is acting white then that's obviously ridiculous
yes, its obviously ridiculous, so its a symptom of systematic racism that school success is somehow white. i also would like to know what ewiz means by acting white here tho
Hey, you want to actually show how I read anything wrong? How any of the shit she pointed out was "racial garbage?" I made the actual arguments. Yet again, you fail to respond to them because you're too fucking stupid to
Assuming people of a given race are more likely to have shared experiences with others of that same race is racist and contributes to the excess focus on race & racial divisiveness
i liked checking my phone like 8 hours after i left yesterday and seeing 957 new replies in my thread
u guys are insane
i love it
Acting white is having to change who you are at home. There's tons of personal narratives about how you have to change the way you speak, how your hair is, what you talk about, what concerns you, etc. It's fairly common to feel dysphoric about your racial identity when you have to perform your subjectivity in a way that will be palatable to another race
disagree with this. it is true that people of a given race are more likely to have shared experiences with others of that same race. i dont think this should be explicitly suppressed. whether or not to make single-race clubs in lower education is another matter though.
The point that white supremacists wouldn't even dream of some of the stuff sprouting out of this "anti-racist" movement is a potent one
From the article:
hang on give me an hour to read everything that i missed
