i think this goes without saying. in good faith arguments, semantics are not a problem because both people are trying to understand each other. at worst you just misunderstand each other, realize it, then change words to avoid the misunderstanding. thats how it should be, at least.

i see what you're saying but i also don't think that what you're saying is enough to call him "wrong" or equivocating, even. that implies an intent to not discuss at all, or for superficial reasons. and while you could argue that judging the worth of an argument based on the preexisting material or education as being..... negative, i don't think it necessarily points to a "wrong" or "bad faith" motivation
