nobody is saying fetuses deserve death, just that there are certain situations like escoptic pregnancies (or whatever they’re called, high chance mother dies) and rape
not to mention age such as if two 13 year olds fuck around and get pregnant, I think it’s reasonable to terminate and try again later
that same person could go on to have a kid in her mid 20s who has a far better life than the one at 13 would have had. so the net result is she still has 1 kid either way. one is just far better off.
yes I think people who fuck around and have casual unprotected sex and have abortions because of it are stupid and trashy, I just think it’s a price worth paying so that the women who do need them for legitimate reasons can have them
you know 77,000 women per year(in the USA) have those ectopic pregnancy shit happen to them. if you flat out banned abortion you’d be sentencing many of them to death. every year.
birth rates would go down because people would be afraid to even get pregnant (that’s just my opinion tho)
well the same people who want to ban abortion are also very intent on banning sex education and shutting down planned parenthood facilities (which are mostly for education and giving out contraceptives)
that’s why this is such hypocritical bullshit and so enraging
there was a facility in Denver that started giving out free contraceptives including IUDs to teens and their teen pregnancy rate fell off a fucking cliff over the next few years
was the American right happy about that? no chance
something that prevents a massive amount of pregnancies that would require an abortion? they tried to shut it down.
Everyone on all sides agrees that people who argue against sex ed are morons, but you also know that there are people arguing against more radicalized sex ed, which is a lot more ideologically driven - you just group that under general sex ed alas.
It's not your fault, the words to describe what's going on with you and yns haven't been invented yet - you can just use ■■■■■■ and ■■■■■■ , I suppose.
This is actually a decent argument that I never thought of, you always end up with the same amount of children - unless the abortion is not the woman's first child.
Well - I'm not american and don't really know what's going on there, but from what I hear from notjones and such; sex ed in some places has extended to discussion about more LGBTQ+ topics and such, I personally think that this does not really belong in schools, since it's already talked about enough outside of school and does not contribute to teaching children how to be safe.
One of the most horrifying scenes in modern literature is when Lolita is seen pregnant at the end of the book - nothing else I've ever read has made me tremble in such a fashion.
The idea that it is a "human right" and even worse a "constitutional right" under some mangled idea of "privacy guaranteed by the whatever amendment" is absolutely ludicrous. I frankly don't particularly care if they allow for abortion in Commiefornia; I frankly don't particularly care as to the philosophical arguments for/against.
All of the civil rights era nonsense (disparate impact, abortion rights, gay marriage, interracial marriage) that has been codified in federal courts need to be absolutely thrown out and put up for state legislatures to decide (a return to Westphalia) and self-assortment can occur.
