Buybacks are a core part of dota's identity, but I do think there should be a way to limit it so people cannot buy back more than once in a game, PERIOD unless there is some extreme conditions being met to allow for another buyback. Aegis should really be changed as well, it feels so fucking weak, and giving shard/aghs/refresher on rosh is so stupid, I get why they did it as a way to try to speed up the game, but it only results in teams deciding to avoid engagements to try to get roshan if they're ahead so that they can try to be even more ahead because of how much rosh gives now and how often it respawns. Makes aegis feel so meaningless because people get 6-slotted so fast in this game, when it used to almost never happen before.
No for sure, it's a stupid fix, because the whole point of supporting was supposed to be that as the game goes longer, you need more skill to stay alive because of how badly you get punished for being out of position, that was the counter balance for having early game strength and being rewarded as a support for playing well/outplaying.
Now because of shit like tome/bounty runes, it's super easy to farm items as a support and become harder to fucking kill than cores because of the items you have like aeon disk. It's just nuts how much power support roles have now.

Not arguing if it's better or worse than before, but I am only airing my frustration that there is no way for me to replay old dota because it no longer exists, and all you have left is this LoL version.

i would agree i enjoyed dota more 2012-2015 but i was also much better at the game at least compared to the average play so maybe it's rose colored glasses. the only change i know i absolutely despise is neutral items but i also just forget to equip them so yea
when i got back stateside i played a few games but my mental state was so shot by then I couldn't chalk it up to the game changing too much. quit for 7 years after lol
I was definitely better at dota during that period, but I would argue that you should still be able to be good/decent at the game if you were back then or it's not the same game. You shouldn't suddenly become awful if you haven't played tennis or super mario in 4 years.
For example, I can still play normal chess and put up a decent fight, but there's no way I could handle bullet unless I was willing to put in a lot of time. Does that mean that DotA is bullet chess? I don't think so. DotA has always been a marathon, not a sprint IMO, and we also have MMR for a reason, I'm def lower rank than I was back then too, but I can't say I am having fun, win or lose because the game doesn't feel like I'm playing dota anymore.

i did have fun in the games with the club even when i had no idea what was happening. neutral items and shard just giving heroes 2 new abilities and twice as many runes

Shit, well welcome back... Idk, the world does feel shittier and America/society does feel like, dumber over the years so I don't know if it's all mental. At least that's how I feel, a lot of BS which I didn't think would exist in the world I grew up in as a kid, but yea, could just be something that happens as you grow older.
With that said, I don't think it's something that I want to just accept either, so that's why I complain so much because it's cathartic
ha thanks i've had years to get back to ok it was not good at first. dota still felt very similar when i tried a few games after coming back but my heart wasn't in the game i was just using it to kill time and occupy my mind. coming back to it now with a fresh mind it feels like it's more the game has changed compounded by me being worse

as far as society i definitely cared less for petty bullshit or optics based anything. seeing the problems other people have can put into perspective how childish some of the complaining people do here (even for good causes) and when you're dealing with personal problems it's better to think less about that stuff anyways

They changed the sight lines on d2 from t spawn to mid and from ct mid to B, nerfed the awp down to 5 bullets per magazine and nerfed the deagle like a few years ago
